Literacy workers are not just adapting to change, they are agents of change!
Paulo Freire says that we are not beings of adaptation but of

Michael Dyson says that justice is what love looks like when it speaks in public.

Crazy wisdom is what the culture of literacy looks like when it acts in public.

Literacy practitioners set up circumstances for spontaneous serendipity to occur.

Literacy practitioners and learners use crazy wisdom to keep programs vibrant and free.

How do you define the culture of literacy?

How do you use your crazy wisdom to sustain and build the culture of literacy?
another view of the stretchy frog upside down in the coffee cup
photos: Suzanne Ahearne

A note about the photos:
The game involved throwing stretchy animals at the ceiling to see which one would stick up there the longest.

When the frog (who had been nothing but trouble for days) fell, he landed headfirst in this cup and hot coffee splashed onto people, furniture and the floor.replica watch https://www.besttime.me

A flurry of activity ensued. The small boy responsible looked uncertainly at the adults in the room - was he in trouble, had he finally gone-too-far?

Much to his relief, laughter erupted as those present celebrated the crazy wisdom of the boy, the game, the troublesome froggy and coffee spilled with such panache.

What is crazy wisdom?
Crazy wisdom
is, of course, the opposite of conventional wisdom. It is

wisdom that deliberately swims against the current order to avoid being swept along in the numbing wake of bourgeois compromise;

wisdom that flouts taboos in order to undermine their power;

wisdom that evolves when one, while refusing to avert one's gaze from the sorrows and injustices of the world, insists on joy in spite of everything;

wisdom that embraces risk and eschews security;

wisdom that turns the tables on neurosis by lampooning it;

the wisdom of those who neither seek authority nor willingly submit to it.

Tom Robbins

Experience is knowledge.

Knowledge is power.

Experience your power... get crazy!
